Bio-security protocol at Pepe Dive Mahahual

Prevention and mitigation of Covid-19


1.- CUSTOMER RECEPTION AND CARE
  • WITHOUT COMPANIONS.- While the period with risk of contagion lasts, Pepe Dive Mahahual will deny access to its facilities and boat to the companions of divers to reduce the capacity as much as possible and reduce the groups.
  • USE OF PPE FOR STAFF.- All Pepe Dive Mahahual personnel have the obligation to use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
  • PREVIOUS PROCEDURES.- Clients with reservations must fill out forms and respond online before their arrival at the diving center.
  • PERSONAL HYGIENE.- Our staff will verify that the clients who access the facilities follow the correct procedures of personal hygiene. For this they will be provided with sinks for cleaning hands with soap and water and antibacterial gel.
  • SAFETY DISTANCE.- Within the facilities it is recommended to maintain a safety distance between clients and staff of at least one meter. To do this, we will distribute customers in the six spaces prepared for waiting and resting: Reception desk (2 people maximum); Management Office (2 people maximum); Seats in the lockers area (2 people maximum); Main Terrace (4 people maximum); Corner Terrace (2 people maximum); Side terrace (2 people maximum).
  • PERSONAL ITEMS.- To avoid contact on common surfaces, all customer belongings will be stored in individual lockers or lockers that will always be disinfected after each use.
2.- DISINFECTION OF SURFACES, EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL
  • FACILITIES.- All surfaces likely to be infected (common areas, door handles, light switches, faucets, keyboards …) will be constantly cleaned with alcohol-based gel and quaternary-ammonium disinfectant, a bactericide of proven efficacy against the virus .
  • DIVING EQUIPMENT.- All the diving equipment, both the owned by the dive center and the clients, will be disinfected before and after use with the Quaternary Ammonium bactericide, which also prevents the transmission of any bacteria or virus to the coral reef. Also, as an additional measure, all equipment used during the day will be sterilized with ultraviolet light in the cellars of the dive center.The equipment will be delivered to clients individually and in a container (one container per client) to ensure that there has been no post-disinfection contact or contact with other clients’ equipment. The containers will be disinfected after each use
    In the case of clients who dive several days, their equipment will be the same throughout their stay and will be disinfected every day.
  • REGULATORS AND MOUTHPIECES.- The second stages of the regulators and their mouthpieces will have a special daily disinfection, after which they will be sealed until the next use, to guarantee their sterilization to the clients. For those customers who wish, we also offer you the sale of new mouthpieces at cost price.
  • QUARANTINE.- All diving equipment (suits, BCD, regulators, etc.), in addition to being properly disinfected, will be after placed in “quarantine” for 48 hours, before being used again.
3.- DIVING BOAT (GRAN KRAKEN)
  • CAPACITY IS REDUCED.- The official capacity of the Gran Kraken boat (18 people) will be reduced to a maximum of eight divers for diving tours in the Mahahual reef, to guarantee a safety distance between the occupants that keeps both clients and staff safe..
  • COMPANIONS NOT PERMITTED.- Temporarily until the contingency ends, no companions of divers on board will be accepted.
  • DISINFECTION OF THE BOAT.- The boat will be disinfected before and after each day with cleaning products compatible with the environment and with the quaternary ammonium bactericide.
  • PERSONAL HYGIENE.- There will be hand disinfection products on board.
  • BOTTLES OF WATER.- While the contingency lasts, the Diving Center will no longer provide the aluminum bottles of water to drink. The staff will bring their personal bottles and it is recommended that our customers bring their own containers that they can fill with water at the dive center before boarding the boat.
