Staying in the most remote Caribbean

Located in the most remote part of Quintana Roo estate, in millennial beaches where known pirates' stories and ancient Mayan legends meet, “Casa del Viento” was born in June 2018 as an alternative to host our customers in Mahahual (divers and explorers).

It is the ideal refuge to enjoy the Costa Maya and its natural surroundings, not only the healthful underwater scenarios that offers the recently created "Mexican Caribbean Biosphere Reserve", but as well the near natural areas such as Xcalak National Park, the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve and the Forest Reserve of "El Huasteco".

House with a heart

It is a cozy condo with 4 departments built around a patio -the heart of the house- where there is “El Jardín de las Velas” (The candles’ garden) -where pink of bougainvillea mixes with yellow “golden cup” flowers and create the perfect atmosphere to take a rest and recover- and “Salón del Búho” (the Owl’s Salon), with comfortable armchairs and a library, an ideal area for social gathering or chill out.

The ideal option for your accommodation in Mahahual after a day of sport and nature activities. The common area has a space with shade, tables, chairs and a grill to enjoy dinners under the Mahahual’s starry nights. Casa del Viento was created following a very simple concept: a big house, with several fully-equipped studios, where guests can choose between enjoying their room’s privacy or sharing time and experiences both with the hosts or other guests in the common areas. Just follow our motto "Cool & Tropical" and respect the house rules: "Relax, Dive & Enjoy".

Comfortable and fully equipped studios

Four spatious and comfortable studios, each one named with suggesting names of winds of the world: Tramontana, Mistral, Xaloc and Siroco. In each one of the studios at “Casa del Viento” we have tried to put together all the elements to enjoy a high comfort level in just one space: air conditioning and ceiling fans, comfy beds, wide bathrooms, fridge, coffee maker and kitchenette –this last one in the case of Mistral, Xaloc and Siroco.

In “Casa del Viento”, we can't help it, we have a soft spot for nature and animals. We are very pet friendly...as we have proved that pets are the only customers that never have a problem. In the department with an exit to the garden pets are more than welcome...and we also admit their owners...

"Tramontana" studio

When Gabriel García Márquez wrote in his tale “Tramontana”…”what intrigued me most was that the weather still had an unrepeatable beauty, with its golden sun and undaunted sky”, he would have perfectly been talking about Mahahual, with its benevolent and healthy climate. The “Tramontana” studio recreates this atmosphere in his honor: thought for 2 guests, it is equipped with Queen size bed, private bathroom, air conditioning, ceiling fan, fridge, coffee maker and all the necessary for a comfortable stay during your holidays in this small paradise.

"Mistral" studio

“From the North-East blows the “mistral” –said Camilo José Cela in his speech in front of the “Real Academia Española” (Royal Spanish Academy)- “playful wind that stops with the start of the night and grows when the sun goes up…”. So is our Mistral studio, quiet and peaceful during the nights but funny and radiant when the sun crosses its window facing to the East: has a queen size bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, private bathroom and fully equipped kitchenette (microwave oven, fridge, stove, coffee maker and cookware) to make your stay in Mahahual an experience to remember.

"Xaloc" studio

“Xaloc” is the preferred wind of the writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte and so he explains it in his tale “The girl and the dolphin”: “…in the immense backlight of the sea, curled by a soft “Xaloc” wind, I saw hunderds of dolphins swimming and jumping towards the skyline, with that silver light reflecting in their fins and bodies”. Soft and light is the mood that our upper floor studio, prepared with 2 twin beds and an extra sofa-bed, to fit from 2 to 4 guests. It also has its own private bathroom and equipped kitchenette with microwave oven, fridge, stove, coffee maker and cookware that make it the ideal retreat for a few days of Caribbean escape.
