This experience allows you, in just a few hours, to learn the basics of diving and make your first dive on the reef.<\/p>\n

To learn how to dive well, independently, it is necessary to do an intensive three-day course. However, for those who do not have so much time or those who simply want to try what it feels like to explore the depths of the sea, we have a protocol called Discover Scuba Diving in Mahahual with which, in just a few hours of learning, you are ready to make a dive on the reef.<\/p>\n

The first thing to know is that this is not a course, but a first experience. The Discover dive begins with a brief theoretical class in which the basic concepts of diving are explained. Then, instructor and students practice on the beach, in what we call \"confined waters\", at very shallow depths, where we learn to breathe for the first time underwater and the techniques to compensate the ears that will allow us to descend into the sea. Once the exercises on the beach are finished, instructor and students go in the boat to the reef and, there, at a depth of 26 to 33 feet, we dive to observe all the marine life of the Caribbean: angelfish, parrotfish, snappers, barracudas, turtles, rays, etc.<\/p>\n

The whole process, from the moment you arrive at the dive shop until the end of the dive, takes about three hours. It is recommendable to make a reservation in advance for the DSD, which can be done in the morning (10 am) or afternoon (2 pm).<\/p>\n

Once the DSD is over, if the experience has been good and the student wants to continue diving and improve his level, he\/she can continue with the classes and dives of the Open Water Diver course and get an international certification.<\/p>\n
